We discussed ways farmers can bring their farms to local schools.

Featured presenter, Chris Lent, agriculture specialist with the National Center for Appropriate Technology (NCAT) will talk about NCAT’s project in conjunction with the USDA FNS Office of Community Food Systems, the National Farm to School Network, and New York University, Bringing the Farm to School! We also heard from the following panelists: 

• Shane Kaplan, Farm to School Program Manager, PA Department of Agriculture
• Cindi Hughes, Farm Owner, Heritage Creek Farm

We also shared some upcoming opportunities and resources:

• The Patrick Leahy Farm to School Grant supports planning, developing, and implementing farm to school programs. The application closes January 10, 2025.
• The Pasa 2025 Conference will be held on February 5-7, 2025 in Lancaster, PA.
• The PA Farm Show will be held January 4-11, 2025.
• PA Preferred is looking for organic producers for the new PA Preferred Organic!
