On March 20, the Pennsylvania Friends of Agriculture Foundation brought Ag Literacy Week to life for students at Bethel Elementary School. Volunteers, including Foundation Chairman Chris Hoffman and members of the Tulpehocken FFA, shared the story The Soil in Jackie’s Garden and guided students through a fun, hands-on composting activity.

The FFA students also brought some very special guests—live animals!—giving the kids an up-close look at agriculture in action.

Ag Literacy Week (March 17–21) connected hundreds of volunteers with classrooms across the state, distributing over 2,000 books and sparking curiosity about farming, composting, and environmental care. Each class got to keep a copy of the book and the activities for continued learning.

Shout out to everyone who helped make this week a success—and for inspiring the next generation of agricultural stewards. Check out these two articles from Lancaster Farming and Lewistown Sentinel to read more about the week!
